
The Head of Service, Dr. Wisdom Ebiye Sawyer, mni, on behalf of Permanent Secretaries, warmly congratulates the entire Bayelsa State Civil Service on the occasion of 2026 Workers’ Day celebration.
The Head of Service commended workers for their dedication, resilience, and invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the state, urging them to remain diligent, committed, and professional in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Dr. Sawyer, expressed profound appreciation to His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, for his steadfast commitment to workers’ welfare and the significant strides of his administration in advancing the Civil Service.
He highlighted key achievements to include, regular and prompt payment of salaries and pensions, staff promotions, Christmas bonuses, enhanced welfare packages, capacity-building initiatives, and the ongoing digital transformation of the public service.
The Head of Service also lauded the construction of the nine-storey Secretariat Complex as a clear demonstration of the government’s resolve to provide a modern and conducive working environment.
He added the ongoing digitalization of the Civil Service is a show of the governor’s desire to make the service world class.
Dr. Sawyer urged civil servants to enlist for the newly digitized identification cards which will serve as valid means of identification for both official and external engagements, including banking transactions.
He urged all civil servants to continue to uphold the values of integrity, discipline, accountability, and excellence in order to collectively build a more responsive, efficient, and people-orientated civil service.
