The Head of Service, Dr. Wisdom Ebiye Sawyer, mni, has stated that the allocation of the newly completed 108 one-bedroom flats at Okaka Housing Estate to civil servants will significantly help address accommodation challenges within the service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Sawyer made this known during a visit to the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the Bayelsa State Housing and Property Development Authority in Yenagoa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Sawyer, observed that the increasing cost of house rent in the state has become a major concern, affecting the productivity and welfare of civil servants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, the newly completed housing units will help ease accommodation pressures and provide a more conducive living and working environment for workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Head of Service explained that the purpose of his visit was to engage with the Authority and develop a practical and transparent framework for the allocation of the houses to deserving civil servants across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Sawyer further noted that the existing civil servants\u2019 quarters in the state have continued to play an important role in addressing accommodation challenges and reducing the financial burden associated with housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also expressed appreciation to Governor Douye Diri for his developmental efforts, particularly in the housing sector, and for approving the allocation of the 108 housing units to Bayelsa State civil servants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his remarks, the General Manager\/Chief Executive Officer of the Bayelsa State Housing and Property Development Authority, Rt. Hon. Tonye Emmanuel Isenah, Ph.D., thanked the Head of Service for the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hon. Isenah disclosed that the Authority is still working on the modalities for the allocation of the 108 flats and is consulting widely to ensure a fair and effective process, adding that a balloting system is being considered among other options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also reaffirmed Governor Douye Diri\u2019s commitment to expanding housing opportunities for civil servants as part of ongoing efforts to reduce the cost of living and improve workers\u2019 welfare in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Others present during the visit included the Permanent Secretary, Establishments, Training and Pension Bureau, Dr. Enuma Charles; the Permanent Secretary, Management and Welfare Services Bureau, Mr. Vincent Jonathan; as well as directors from the Office of the Head of Service.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
