The Head of Service, Dr. Wisdom Ebiye Sawyer, has stated that the ongoing digitalisation project in the civil service will deliver mutual benefits to both employees and the state government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Head of Service made this known while inaugurating a training programme at the Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology, Secretariat Complex Annex 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Head of Service said the initiative is designed to replace cumbersome paper-based processes with efficient electronic systems, thereby enhancing productivity across the service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He explained that the programme includes basic computer training, document digitalisation, and secure data storage, all aimed at improving operational efficiency and supporting staff development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training will be conducted in phases across ministries, departments, agencies (MDAs), and parastatals, beginning with personnel from the Office of the Head of Service before extending to other government institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Sawyer also revealed that the production of newly digitalised identification cards has commenced, starting with Permanent Secretaries and newly recruited staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that the ID cards will serve as a valid means of identification for official and external purposes, including use in banks and airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further emphasised that future promotion exercises will be strictly merit-based and urged workers to align with the government\u2019s vision of building a modern and efficient civil service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Communication, Science and Technology, Engr. Munalayefa Gibson, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Yelah Joseph Alagoa, highlighted the importance of the initiative in boosting productivity and improving record management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that many civil servants currently lack essential computer skills required for digital operations. He commended the Head of Service and the Civil Service Commission for organising the programme, describing it as a step toward strengthening institutional capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on behalf of participants, Mr. Remember Bright expressed optimism that the training would enhance document management and reduce workload in the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
